Analysis of the old driver: What is the function of the engine bracket

  The engine is fixed on the body frame by connecting with the bracket. The role of the engine bracket is roughly divided into three points: "support", "vibration isolation" and "vibration control". The well-made engine mount not only does not transmit vibration to the body, but also helps to improve the maneuverability and steering feel of the vehicle.

  Installation structure

  A bracket is placed on the front side member to keep the upper end of the engine block on the right side of the vehicle and the transmission on the rotating shaft of the power unit on the left side. At these two points, the lower part of the engine block mainly swings back and forth, so the lower point is held by the torque rod at the sub-frame position away from the rotating shaft. This restricts the engine from swinging like a pendulum. In addition, a torsion bar was added near the upper right bracket to fix it at four points to adjust the position of the engine due to acceleration/deceleration and left/right tilt. Its cost is higher than the three-point system, but it has a better effect on reducing engine jitter and idling vibration.

  The lower part has a built-in shockproof rubber instead of a metal block. This position is the position where the weight of the engine enters from directly above. It is not only fixed on the side members, but also pulled out from the mounting seat and fixed on the solid part of the car body.

  Different cars use different materials and structures, but generally there are only two fixed points for engine installation, but Subaru has three. One on the front end of the engine, one on the left and right on the gearbox side. The left and right mounting seats are of liquid-tight type. This installation method of Subaru is well balanced, but in the event of a collision, the engine is easy to shift and fall.

  What material is used for the engine bracket?

  Aluminum alloy guard plate is the best. There are two types of brackets:

  1. One is the torque bracket and the other is the engine foot glue. The function of the engine foot glue is mainly to fix and absorb the shock, mainly the torsion bracket;

  2. Torsion bracket is a kind of engine fastener, which is generally connected with the engine on the front axle of the front part of the car body;

  3. The difference from ordinary engine foot glue is that the engine foot glue is a rubber pier directly installed on the bottom of the engine, while the torque bracket is installed on the side of the engine like an iron rod. There will also be a torsion bracket glue on the torsion bracket, which plays a role of shock absorption.

  What are the symptoms of a problem with the engine bracket? Some car owners find that the engine is shaking, and they suspect that there is a problem with the bracket. What will happen if there is a problem with the bracket, let us understand together.

  Operation method

  01

  The machine foot (bracket) is a cushion that connects the engine and the car body. It mainly serves as a buffer and shock absorber. There are hydraulic and rubber. If the foot rubber is damaged, the vibration generated by the engine will cause the entire body to vibrate, possibly accompanied by abnormal noise.

  The failure of the engine foot glue is not a small problem. In addition to causing jitter, it also causes a certain amount of damage to the engine. In more serious cases, the engine will fall off the frame directly.

  The engine foot is a cushion that connects the engine and the car body. It mainly serves as a buffer and shock absorption. There are hydraulic and rubber. If the foot rubber is damaged, the vibration generated by the engine will cause the entire body to vibrate. The legs are long-lasting design, except for individual cars such as Ford, Excelle, etc., most of them can be used for 80 to 100,000 kilometers. However, it is also a vulnerable part, because of individual differences in driving habits or assembly processes, premature aging and wear are normal.

  Special Note

  The problem with the engine bracket is not a small problem, because the bracket has a problem, the engine will shake, and if it shakes for a long time, the engine bracket will shake and loosen.
