Wiper assembly
First, let's briefly understand the composition of the wiper. Wiper blades are also called wipers, wipers, wipers, etc. It is mainly composed of three parts: motor, wiper arm mandrel, and wiper blade assembly.
Most of the parts in the wiper assembly are made of plastic, but the wiper strip is made of rubber. Therefore, the rubber strip part is the most prone to aging and damage to the wiper. Although we can directly replace the wiper strips, there are also various wiper strips for sale online. But a wiper blade is only tens of pieces. If the rubber strip is aging, it can be replaced as a whole. There is no need to replace the rubber strip alone. Not much to say, let’s share how to replace the wiper by yourself.
The first step is to remove the old wiper blade
First, gently lift the wiper arm from the windshield until the wiper wall can hover vertically on the windshield. Be careful not to vigorously shake the wiper after hovering.
Observe the position where the wiper wall connects with the wiper, which is usually fixed by a movable buckle. The entire wiper blade assembly can be removed by pinching the buckle with your fingers.
Step 2 Wrap the towel around the wiper arm and put it back gently
Wrap the head of the wiper arm with a towel, and gently put the wiper arm back on the windshield.
The role of the towel in this step is very important, because if the metal head of the wiper arm is accidentally smashed on the windshield after the wiper is removed, it will easily break the glass.
Step 3 Put on a new wiper
Take out a new wiper blade and remove the plastic film that protects the rubber strip. This plastic film is generally green or blue.
Insert the new wiper blade into the wiper arm head until the movable buckle is successfully locked. Repeat this step for the other wiper strip.
Note that common wipers are one long and one short. If you install the wrong wiper, the long wiper will extend beyond the car window. So before the novice removes the wiper, observe the old wiper to confirm the length.
The wiper blade itself is not expensive, so it is recommended to replace it in 6-8 months. But if you want the wiper to last longer, in addition to avoiding the sun as much as possible, the daily addition of glass water must look for the big brands produced by the regular manufacturers. Because inferior glass water will also affect the service life of the wiper strip, do not use detergent water or washing powder water instead of glass water to save trouble.
