General knowledge of car fuel tank maintenance

In the car maintenance, there are often some easy to be ignored, or even do not know to maintain the parts to be ignored, and which, the car fuel tank cleaning and maintenance is ignored by most people.

A friend of mine recently went to the 4S shop to do a fuel tank cleaning, when he saw the cleaning of the fuel tank, but also cleaned out a bunch of incredible things: in addition to particles, gum items, maintenance master also cleaned out from the fuel tank tinfoil and plastic pieces .... It really took him by surprise. The granules and gelatinous items we can think of as impurities in the oil, but what about the tinfoil? It turns out that it was accidentally dropped in when adding the fuelpowder. Therefore it is necessary to master the common sense of car fuel tank maintenance and regular cleaning.

Regular cleaning of the car's fuel tank is very necessary

Although the fuel tank is semi-closed except when refuelling, it is fully closed at other times. But as the age of the car increases and the use of time becomes longer, there will be more and more precipitated impurities in the fuel tank, which will inevitably enter the engine with the oil supply system in the car, which will cause damage to the car over time. Regarding the quality of the oil, I think we all understand it in our hearts. There are impurities in the oil itself, and the bottom of the oil depots at various petrol stations have also accumulated many impurities over the years. If you refuel your tanker when it delivers fuel to the depot, some impurities are bound to be added. When these impurities enter the tank, they first settle at the bottom of the tank. Slowly when there is too much sediment, it will enter the car's engine with the fuel and cause serious wear and tear on the engine.

  When should I clean it?

The fuel tank itself is set up to protect itself from water and insulation. If you have been idling for a long time, then at maybe 30,000 km you will have to have the fuel line cleaned. Or change the filter. Otherwise, once you encounter a blocked oil circuit, the air pressure in the tank is too high. The car will then flap during driving. Under the influence of high pressure, the fuel tank is very prone to cracking, and in serious cases, oil leaks will occur and fuel consumption will become high.

  How do I clean it?

Fuel tank cleaning is divided into two steps, internal and external.

External: You need to check the fuel tank, fuel pipes, joints and other places for dents or oil leaks. Remember to check if the tank bracket fixing screws are tightened.

Internal: Open the tank opening, remove the filter bucket and suck out the oil, leaving only about 30L of petrol in the tank. Insert a clean plastic tube through the filling port to the bottom of the tank and gently blow the petrol at the bottom of the tank to make it tumble and clean.

When cleaning, you can use a clean cloth to block the refueling tube mouth, and then constantly change the position and direction of the plastic tube to avoid rubbing the oil surface sensor as much as possible. After blowing and washing for 20 minutes, drain the petrol, when the impurities in the petrol will flow out together. Note that the fuel drained from the tank should be allowed to settle for 72 hours before use.
